About WayHopper — Interactive Event Management for Route-Based Events

WayHopper is a location-based event platform for poker runs, scavenger hunts, pub crawls, fundraisers, tourism trails, and multi-stop community events. Organizers build routes, sell tickets, verify QR + GPS check-ins in the app, and publish maps and results—participants join from iOS, Android, or the web.

§ 01 · The premise

We build for the organizer in the parking lot, holding a clipboard, with one bar of signal.

Most event software is built for fixed venues and guest lists. WayHopper is built for events that move: poker runs with card stops, scavenger hunts with GPS checkpoints, pub crawls across neighborhoods, chamber shopping passports, and tourism trails that span a downtown or a region.

Those events run on energy and logistics in equal measure. The organizer is on their feet. Cell coverage varies. Sponsors want proof. Participants want to know standings. Stops need QR + GPS validation—not paper sign-in sheets blowing off a clipboard.

"A great event tool should fit on the lock-screen of the organizer's phone — and earn its keep by the end of registration."

WayHopper is map-first because the events are geographic. Operator-first because someone is always running the show. Revenue-aware because ticketing and sponsor stops help fund the next event. And honest about constraints—the app supports offline check-ins when signal drops; participants finish the stop once they are back online.

We are not trying to be a generic event platform for every format. We focus on route-based, location-based experiences where check-ins, maps, and results matter on event day.

§ 02 · Product focus

What WayHopper is built for.

Route-based events where maps, check-ins, and results matter—not generic conference or wedding software.

01PLATFORMS
Event types

Poker runs, hunts, crawls, and more

Dedicated playbooks for poker runs, scavenger hunts, pub crawls, yard-sale trails, fundraising rides, tourism events, and community routes—each with scoring and check-in rules that match the format.

02MAPS

Interactive event maps

Organizers pin stops, set geo-radius validation, enforce sequence when needed, and embed public maps participants can follow on event day.

03CHECK-IN

QR + GPS in the app

Participants check in at stops with the WayHopper iOS/Android app. The app supports offline check-ins when signal drops—finish the stop once back online.

04TICKETS
Revenue

Ticketing and Stripe Connect payouts

Sell tickets and keycodes, collect waivers, and receive organizer payouts through Stripe Connect after the event under platform payout rules.

05RESULTS

Photos, moderation, and standings

Photo challenges with moderation queues, live leaderboards, poker hand history, and shareable results pages for participants and sponsors.

§ 02 · Operating principles

Six tenets we argue from, not toward.

i.TENET-01 · MAP-FIRST

Geography is the primary axis of the event.

Almost every event we serve is geographic before it is anything else. We design the map first, the schedule second, the table-of-results third. Most software gets this order wrong.

NOT: "it has a map view too"
ii.TENET-02 · OPERATOR-FIRST

Build for the person on the parking-lot side of the event.

Every screen we ship gets reviewed by an active organizer running >6 events a year. If they can't operate it standing up in the rain with gloves on, it gets re-designed.

NOT: "Stripe-style dashboard for the analyst"
iii.TENET-03 · REVENUE-NATIVE

The platform should help fund the next event.

Ticketing and sponsor stops are built in. Paid events use Stripe Connect so organizers receive their share after the event under platform payout rules. If we don't help the event break even, we've failed the organizer.

NOT: "keep every dollar / 0% take as a product promise"
iv.TENET-04 · ONE PRODUCT, MANY SHAPES

Each vertical gets its own face.

A poker run is not a yard sale is not a chamber passport. We share a backbone but the surface should feel native to whatever you're actually running. No "select your event type" tax.

NOT: "you'll figure it out in onboarding"
v.TENET-05 · DEAD SPOTS HAPPEN

The app supports offline check-ins when signal drops.

Players take a photo at the stop, keep going, and finish check-in once they're back online. That's a recovery path for dead spots—not a fully offline maps mode.

NOT: "please ensure stable network coverage or the event dies"
vi.TENET-06 · PROOF, NOT PROMISES

Every claim ships with a receipt.

Stats on the marketing site link to the customer event they came from. Roadmap items link to the GitHub issue. The phrase "industry-leading" never appears in any string we write.

NOT: "trusted by the world's best events"
