Scavenger Hunt Software for Public, Corporate, and Community Events
Build point-based hunts with QR + GPS check-in, sequential or free routes, photo rules you control, and leaderboards you can show or hide — for tourism boards, HR teams, downtown orgs, and community hosts.
It's not a printed clue sheet. It's a live hunt — map, verified check-ins, points per stop, and a leaderboard when you want the competition on. — what a modern scavenger hunt actually runs on
Five steps to a finished hunt.
From join to standings — here's how WayHopper runs a multi-stop scavenger hunt for participants.
Discover & join
Players find your hunt on the events directory or a shared link, then join with a ticket or keycode when required.
Follow or explore
Set a sequential route or let teams free-explore — same platform, your rules.
Check in for points
QR + GPS at each stop awards the points you configured. The WayHopper app supports offline check-ins when signal drops.
Photo rules you set
Require a photo, make it optional, or skip it per stop — then moderate uploads before they go public.
Watch the leaderboard
Toggle in-event leaderboard visibility. Announce results or auto-close after end time.
Stop printing clue packets.
Teams get lost. Photos get lost.
- Printed riddles with no GPS proof at stops
- Honor-system check-ins — easy to cheat
- Photo submissions via text or email chaos
- One rigid path even when free exploration would work better
- Organizer can't see progress until the end
- Leaderboard scribbled on a whiteboard after finish
One hunt. Verified stops. Real standings.
- QR + GPS check-in with points assigned per stop
- Sequential routes or free exploration — your setting
- Photo required, optional, or off — plus moderation when you need it
- In-event leaderboard you can show or hide
- App supports offline check-ins when signal drops
- Announce results or auto-close after end time

Scavenger hunt questions.
More in our help center, or talk to an organizer who's run a downtown hunt.
How do points work?
Assign points to each stop. Players earn them when they check in with QR + GPS. Leaderboards reflect those standings when you enable them.
Can the route be sequential or free-form?
Yes. Configure forced sequence when order matters, or let players explore freely. Same hunt tools either way.
Do players need to download an app?
For day-of QR + GPS check-in, yes—the iOS/Android WayHopper app is the home for play. Players can still browse and buy tickets on the web. The app supports offline check-ins when signal drops.
Can hunts require photo proof?
Yes. Make photos required, optional, or off per stop. Submissions can land in an organizer moderation queue before they appear publicly.
Can I hide the leaderboard during the event?
Yes. Toggle in-event leaderboard visibility. Announce results when you’re ready, or let the platform auto-close after end time.
Will our event appear on the public directory?
When you publish, it can list on the WayHopper events page with type, date, and location filters — so teams and tourists discover your hunt before the first check-in.
