Built for how retail districts operate

The tools that make corridor campaigns repeatable.

Merchant roster & tiers

Create your participating store list once. Assign anchor, standard, and sponsor tiers — each merchant gets check-in counts and a post-campaign report.

Shopping passports

One free or ticketed registration unlocks stamps across the district. QR + GPS check-ins in the WayHopper app—the app supports offline check-ins when signal drops.

Location Entry Portal

Invite merchants to add their own stops under your limits and approvals—ideal for district trails and community open events.

Season templates

Clone last year's Gift Hop or First Friday hunt in one click. Update merchants, dates, prizes — your team runs the district calendar, not one-off events.

Photo & window challenges

Branded display hunts turn shoppers into your marketing team. UGC gallery and share prompts built in — perfect for First Friday and holiday windows.

Photos & public pages

Check-in photos and shareable public event pages give the district proof of participation without inventing a separate marketing stack.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR · DOWNTOWN LAKEWOOD BID

"Our Gift Hop Passport drove 920 stamps across 38 stores in three weeks. Merchants finally had numbers for assessment season — and three anchor tenants renewed their sponsorship on the spot."

FAQ

BID director questions.

More in our help center, or talk to a district already running on WayHopper.

Can small merchants participate without POS integration?

Yes. Check-ins happen via QR at the register or door—participants scan in the WayHopper app and GPS confirms the visit. Staff can glance at the check-in confirmation; no POS required.

How do we get merchants to sign up?

Invite stores through the Location Entry Portal on open events, and share event QR and location QR materials from the organizer portal. Most districts start with anchor tenants and grow the route from there.

Can we run free passports and ticketed crawls together?

Yes. Holiday passports are often free with sponsor-funded prizes; Saturday sample crawls typically sell tickets. One account, separate event configs, shared merchant roster.

Can merchants add their own stops?

Yes—on supported open/community events, invite partners through the Location Entry Portal so stores add stops under your rules.

Do shoppers need to download an app?

For day-of QR + GPS check-in, yes—the iOS/Android WayHopper app is the home for play. Shoppers can still browse the district event and buy tickets on the web.

What about spotty cell service downtown?

The WayHopper app supports offline check-ins when signal drops—take a photo at the stop and finish once back online. Post printed QR codes at doors and registers.
